Police Department
Patrol Division
The Wamego Police Department Patrol Division is responsible for the two
square miles of the city limits and Wamego City Airport located on
Airport which is two miles east of the city limits. The Patrol Divison
answers calls for assistence from the public and will generaly be the
first officer on the scene for all types of calls. The Patrol Division
also enforces traffic laws and maintains highly visible patrol methods.
The Patrol Division would not be complete without the assistance of
the part time officers. These officers make themselves available at
short notice to cover a shift if some one is sick or extra assistance
is needed no matter the situation. All part time officers have full
time jobs that they work; then the extra duties of working for the
police department.
Full Time Officers
Asst. Chief Steven Farmer:
Steven has 10 years of law enforcement experience and
has been with the Wamego Police Department since 2005. Steven began his
career with the Harper County Sheriff’s Department..
Rachelle Riat:
Rachelle joined the Wamego Police Department in 2007 with
10 years of law enforcement experience. Rachelle began her career with
the Wabaunsee County Sheriff’s Department.

Part-Time Officers
Allen Shelton:
Allen started with the Wamego Police Department in January
2006 as a part-time police officer. Allen was a police officer with the
Riley County Police Department for over 12 years.
Andy Couchman:
Andy joined the department in June 2004. Andy’s
fulltime job is an EMT-I with the Pottawatomie County EMS.
Tracy Freeman:
Tracy is also the Captain of the reserve department.
Dave Salinas:
Dave works full time for the United States Air Force.
Michael Paz-Torres:
Michael works full time in law enforcement for the
United States Army.
